Adding a drug to your Clara CD Register is simple and straightforward, you can even carry over the balance from your old register.

Firstly make sure that you're on the drugs screen on your CD register by clicking the button in the menu shown below.

Click the "+ Add drug" button at the top right. After clicking this you'll be taken to the screen below.



There are two ways to add drugs to Clara, using the Drug Search box (which searches our database of CDs) and Manual Entry (for drugs which aren't listed in this database).

Using the Drug Search recommended

You should always try this method first

When you begin typing the drug's name into the search box Clara will suggest matching drugs. Simply select one of those.

Manually adding a drug

If you can't find the drug listed in the the search you can enter the drug manually.

Click the "Enter manually" button in the top right. This will change the screen to show the manual drug entry options



Name and strength

Here you will enter the name and strength of the drug, e.g. Durogesic 12mcg/hr.

Class optional

Optionally you can enter the class in this box, e.g. Fentanyl.

Form optional

The last optional box is where you can enter the form of the drug, e.g. Transdermal patch.

Transferring Drug Balance From Another Register

If you are not transferring data from another register skip this step.

If you'd like to transfer the drug balance from another register click the checkbox next to "Transfer balance from another register".



This will expand the section, allowing you to fill in the following details:

Comment - Where the transferred balance is coming from: paper register, a different software product, etc.
Total balance - The current balance of the drug you're transferring into your Clara CD Register. This should include any expired stock and prescriptions that are made up but not yet collected.
Quantity expired - The quantity of the drug that is expired.

The "Total balance" should include any that is marked as expired, otherwise the quantity will be incorrect.

Once you have filled in these 4 items continue to the next step.

Regardless of whether you're transferring a balance from another CD register or are creating a brand new register, you need to select who created the register.



If you have already set up your staff members, simply begin typing their name into the box and Clara will show them in a dropdown.



If they haven't already been added you can do so here by clicking the "+ Add" section of the dropdown. Upon doing so you will see a menu pop up with the following options:



Name - The staff member's name
Position - Their position (e.g. Pharmacist, Dispenser, Technician)
Registration number - Although optional it is advised that this is entered for any position with one e.g. Pharmacist.

Once filled out the added staff member will automatically be selected, and will be available for future entries.

A completed register, ready to be created, will look similar to this:



As you can see, the drug has been selected, it is transferring a balance from a paper register and was entered by Clara.

Click the "Save" button and your register will be created.

What entries this makes

Upon hitting "Save" you will be taken to your newly added drug. If you transferred a balance over from another register you will see that there is an entry created similar to below:



If you did not transfer a balance, an entry will still be made saying who created the entry.
